Instrument Features
The Extech 42509 Infrared Thermometer with Colour Alert is Extech's fastest and most accurate IR Thermometer. The Extech 42509 thermometer uses two laser pointers that converge with a 12:1 field of view (effectively allowing a 1 inch surface area to be measured from 12 inches away). This Infra-Red Thermometer is capable of measuring up to 510°C and displays results to a resolution of 0.1°C. An innovative alert system is employed when the measured temperature exceeds or drops below user defined MIN and MAX parameters. The display will flash blue if the MIN value is breached and it will flash red if the MAX value is surpassed, both of which will continue to flash until a satisfactory temperature is reached. The Extech 42515 is a dual function thermometer that is capable of both carrying out infrared (IR) temperature measurements and contact temperature measurements via the use of a type K thermocouple.
When used as an IR thermometer the Extech 42515 allows measurements of surface temperature from a large range of -58 to 1472°F (-50 to 800°C). This mode is best suited to measuring applications where contact might not be possible. When using a type-k connection the measurement range is expanded significantly up to -58 to 2498°F (-50 to 1370°C). Having access to both of these measurements via the use of one device means you're always ready to carry out temperature measurements no matter what the application might be.
This product is designed to be held comfortably in the hand and is shaped like a pistol for easy access to the device's measurement trigger. It also includes a bright laser pointer that allows users to pinpoint the exact area where temperature measurements are to take place, built-in memory for storing up to 20 records and various advanced measurements functions including MAX, MIN, AVG and DIF.
When temperatures beyond the range of 212°F are detected the Extech 42515 will automatically adjust its emissivity to ensure that it generates an accurate reading.

The Extech 42512 infrared thermometer is an upgraded version of Extech's 42511, expanding the overall measurement range of the meter and the distance the meter can be used at away from a target.
With the expanded measurement range of this product it is suitable for use in both extremely cold and extremely hot conditions. It can measure temperature via the use of non-contact infrared technology between a range of -58 to 1832°F (-50 to 1000°C) with high basic accuracy of just ±1% of rdg + 2°F/1°C.
This infrared thermometer also uses dual lasers to allow the user to create a pinpoint measurement point. The distance to target ratio of this product is 30:1 which means at a distance of 30" the two lasers converge together to form a measurement point of 1" (2.5cm) which is the area where the tester will read temperature from.
Capable of either carrying out single readings or is suitable for use on in carrying out continuous measurements via a lock function, it also includes both high and low set points which will sound audible alarms if they are exceeded and adjustable emissivity for using the meter on various different surface types.
