The Extech 407730 is a reliable method of carrying out evaluation of the levels of noise in an environment. It's ideally suited for product noise certification and reduction and many other applications such as in music, alarm systems and monitoring that workplace machinery is operating within safe hearing parameters and allows you to determine whether ear protection must be supplied.

The device is suitable for use in a lot of different applications thanks to the in-built 40-130dB measuring range of this sound level meter. 40dB is a level around a whisper and a normal conversation, while 130dB is around the level of a jet engine, so that's a pretty versatile range. All measurements are taken within ±2dB with resolution of 0.1dB.
Extech's 407730 uses a 0.5" (12.7mm) condenser microphone to take measurements and uses both A&C weighting. Need to keep your hands-free while testing? The Extech 407730 is also tripod mountable for ease of use.

With just the press of a button you can choose between A/C weighting, adjust whether the device uses fast/slow response time and you can also use the MAX/Hold button to display a MAX measurement or alternatively temporarily hold data on the screen.
When displaying measurements this device shows the overall reading as a number (including decimal point) on the backlit LCD screen. It also features an analogue bargraph for tracking measurement ratings over time.
To aid with measurements outdoors this product also ships as standard with a microphone windscreen.
